Established in 2003, our aim is to bring to you the wonderful culinary styles and influences of both the Caribbean and the Mediterranean regions and over the past 4 years we have built up an enviable reputation and now draw Customers from all over the region and neighbouring counties. We were also very grateful to receive several nominations from satisfied Customers for the UKTV Food Local Hero 2006 and 2007 campaign. We have since been included in the UKTV Food "Food Directory" at http://uktv.co.uk/food/localfoodhero/outlet/oid/5458 We were awarded Gold in the Forest of Dean Retail awards for Valued Member of Staff 2007 and Silver for Shops in Bloom 2006. We hope that you will enjoy your meal with us and, if you do, all we ask is that you tell your friends about us! We are open for lunch (11.30am - 2.30pm) and dinner (6.30 - 9.30pm last orders) from Tuesday to Saturday. We are open for Sunday lunch from 12 noon- 2.30pm. We are closed Sunday evenings and all day Monday (except bank holidays when we open for lunch) but can cater for groups of 10 or more on Sunday or Monday evenings by prior arrangement. Take-out orders are also welcome. These are at a discount of 10% of the current published prices. Our CARIBBEAN TASTER BUFFET NIGHTS have proved a real hit this year since we introduced them in April 2007. Only £17.95pp for unlimited hot buffet with a choice of dessert and some very special tropical drinks and cocktails on offer. Special diets are welcome and we are widely recommended by vegans and veggies www.veggieplaces.co.uk , coeliacs www.gluten-free-onthego.com , and Coeliac UK www.coeliac.co.uk amongst others. Unlike most other restaurants, no prior notice is needed if you have any special dietary requirements. The menu is clearly marked and 80% of the dishes are GF.
Since opening in 2003, we have been lucky enough to attract media attention through local radio, local press and regional press. In 2004 we were nominated for Severn Sound Radio "Best Place to Eat or Drink" category and, in August 2006, BBC Radio Gloucestershire recorded their face2face sunday afternoon programme at the restaurant. We were awarded bronze in Summer 2005 and silver in 2006 in the "Newent-in-Bloom" awards. April 2007 saw us win "Valued Staff Member" award in the Forest of Dean District Council "One Stop Local Shop" campaign.
We were also delighted to be interviewed by BBC Radio Gloucestershire for a feature on Food in December 2007 and for this interview to have been used in the BBC National UK Black podcast - see http://www.bbc.co.uk/radio/podcasts/ukblack/
